The Story

Most people wait until they're an expert before they start sharing. I decided to do the opposite. On May 11, 2026, I walked into my first day as a Social Media Marketing Intern at Hindustani Tongue — and I started writing everything down. Publicly.

Not the polished highlights. Not the LinkedIn-ready achievements. The real stuff — what confused me, what I got wrong, what I accidentally learned by making a mistake.

"The best way to learn is to document the journey — not just the destination."

— The philosophy behind this journal
What I Track Every Week

Projects & Tasks
Real work — blogs published, content created, campaigns managed.
⚠️

What went wrong, and exactly how I course-corrected.
Biggest Win
The one thing each week that made all the hard work worth it.

First Week — Hitting the Ground Running
May 11 – 16, 2026  ·  Mon – Sat
Done ✓
Monday · May 11, 2026  ·  Week 1, Day 1  ·  First Day ✦
Presentation = trust from day one. First real look at Google Search Console and organic visibility.
Rushed the presentation from nerves. Lesson: slow down.
Presented research & ideas. Got my first task — built a blog tracker with auto-updating numbers.
Google Search Console  ·  Google Sheets  ·  Presentation skills
Tuesday · May 12, 2026  ·  Week 1, Day 2
SEO = audit + rewrite + strategy. Backlinks are about relevance, not quantity.
Skimmed instead of reading deeply — slowed down, edits improved.
Full SEO audit + rewrite of a blog, published same day. Built a backlink tracker. Secured 7 organic backlinks.
SEO writing  ·  On-page SEO  ·  Backlink strategy  ·  Sheets  ·  WordPress
Wednesday · May 13, 2026  ·  Week 1, Day 3
Guest posting needs real research, not just Google. Got hands-on with WordPress publishing.
First guest post list had low-authority sites — filtered by relevance.
Shortlisted guest post targets. Wrote & uploaded 2nd SEO blog. Wrote a backlink-focused article.
WordPress  ·  Guest post research  ·  Article writing  ·  SEO writing
Thursday · May 14, 2026  ·  Week 1, Day 4
GSC metrics tell different stories — impressions, clicks, CTR, position each matter.
Tried analysing everything at once — learned to filter by query and date.
Deep GSC analysis. Built a filtering sheet for old blogs. Wrote another SEO rewrite.
GSC (advanced)  ·  Keyword research  ·  Data filtering  ·  Sheets  ·  SEO writing
Friday · May 15, 2026  ·  Week 1, Day 5
Backlinks take time to show in GSC, especially on newer accounts. Patience is part of the strategy.
Assumed something was broken — investigated before concluding.
Built a backlink acquisition sheet. Added backlinks to new content. Solved the GSC visibility question for the founder. Updated another old blog.
GSC troubleshooting  ·  Backlink research  ·  Cross-platform analysis  ·  SEO writing
Saturday · May 16, 2026  ·  Week 1, Day 6
Consistency compounds — sharpen what already has momentum.
None major — focused on quality after a long week.
Refreshed & published a high-impression blog. Reviewed the week's progress.
GSC  ·  SEO writing  ·  WordPress  ·  Content strategy
Week 1 · Key Win
By the end of the week, impressions and clicks on updated blogs were already growing.
02
Second Week — Taking Ownership

Done ✓

Full WordPress access. First blog published independently. Ownership begins.

03
Third Week — Strategy, Signals & My First Byline

Two original bylined blogs. Caught a traffic drop before anyone else. Built the strategy report that reshaped the company's content direction.

2Blogs Under My Name
2Blogs Uploaded & Indexed
12Backlink Articles
1SEO+GEO Strategy Report
📚 Key Things I Learned
  • Generic SEO is becoming invisible — need real stories, citations, E-E-A-T.
  • GEO already affects traffic today, not a future concept.
  • A good report = clear communication — wrote a technical + a simplified version.
  • Real, research-backed stories rank and resonate more.
💼 Projects & Tasks Completed
⚠️ Challenges & How I Handled Them
Spotted a quiet GSC drop and investigated instead of panicking — traced it to Google's AI review box rollout, and the strategy shifted.
🔧 Tools Used
GSC · WordPress · Google Sheets · SEO+GEO frameworks · E-E-A-T · Citation research · Backlink strategy
Week 3 · Biggest Win
Two bylined blogs + a strategy report that changed the company's content direction.

📚 Key Things I Learned
  • Old blog optimisation = fill gaps in depth, citations, data — Trends helped pick direction.
  • Personalised guest post pitches convert better than generic ones.
  • Review outreach needs precision — a different tone than cold pitching.

  • Researched 46 high-DA sites, drafted personalised pitches for each, sent to founder for review
⚠️ Challenges & How I Handled Them
46 pitches is a lot to personalise. Researched each one individually instead of batching — took longer, worth it.
🔧 Tools Used
WordPress · GSC · Rich Results Test · Schema.org Validator · DA checker · SEO writing · Backlink strategy · Guest post outreach · Competitor research
Week 5 · Biggest Win
Every blog passed schema validation, and 46 personalised pitches were ready to go.

About This Journal

Hi! I'm Prabhjot Kaur — a Social Media Marketing Intern at Hindustani Tongue, May–August 2026. This is my public learning journal, updated every working week.

I decided to document my internship publicly from day one. Not just the wins — everything. The confusion, the small progress, the mistakes I caught too late, and the moments something finally clicked.

"Most people only share wins. I want to share the full picture."

What I Track Each Week

What I Won't Share

No confidential client data, internal strategies, or anything that would breach trust with my team. This is about my personal learning journey — not company secrets.

The Schedule

6 days a week, Monday through Saturday. 12 weeks total. Week 1 is documented day by day — from Week 2 onwards, weekly reflections every Saturday.
